Design Plus Education was started to promote the idea that design education can provide students with an integrated and challenging educational experience based on the design school studio model. Its function is to develop programs that strive to help students and adults understand, embrace and celebrate their built and natural environments.
Rupal Engineer, Manny Juarez, and Atsuko Sakai are all involved in National and International programs that are also dedicated to promoting design education in their communities. Manny and Atsuko are founding members of PLAYCE, an International collaborative of design professionals, museum curators, government officials and educators. They have also participated in programs and conferences in Japan, Finland, New York City, Washington D.C., and Albuquerque, NM. They have exhibited their programs at the conference sponsored by A+DEN, an association created by the American Architectural Foundation (AAF) and the Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF) to promote innovative design educational programs.
They are actively involved with the University of New Mexico’s School of Architecture and work closely with Dr. Anne Taylor on numerous projects. She is a distinguished professor at UNM and whose dedication and experience on the subject of design education has inspired our work in this field. We are fortunate to have her as a mentor and partner in these endeavors.
Design Plus Education also complements our design practice philosophy that is dedicated to giving students the most efficient, pleasant, welcoming, and dynamic educational environment possible while meeting the needs of administrators, staff, and community. |
